The owners wanted a multi level home looking similar to one that’s on our website which they loved.  The site was very similar, steep but with amazing views of Mooloolaba and the ocean.  They needed 4 bedrooms including a separate guest wing on the lower level, a plunge pool, double lock up garage and a master bedroom and balcony on the top floor.

The site was very steep including the driveway, this was the main challenge, to design the home with minimal excavation, yet conforming with council height restrictions and a site line easement that restricted use of the block to only 18m from the front.

Being a steep site we chose to keep all materials light weight except for a suspended slab for the garage and a concrete masonry column clad with rock work to act as the anchor on the stable ground.

The front of the house looks very solid/affluent, stable and comforting, but once you move around the side of the building it floats and is clad in lightweight material.
